Introduction

Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. (Ward 2012.) It is very important to understand the leadership skills and roles, so it can apply in the project management for more effectively process and result. Leader is a significant role to lead people or motivate them to work with their full capacity and it also provides an inspirational figure to lead groups towards great accomplishments.

With the research topic ‘Team Dynamics and Leadership skills at Porvoo Campus’, this research plan will be aiming to point out the leadership skills that most require in Porvoo campus and what would be the key factor to have a good team dynamic. We will be focusing on business (POBBA) and tourism (TOBBA) students of HAAGA-HELIA University of applied sciences. The research will be based on leadership theory, group management theory, and team dynamic. The quantitative and qualitative survey will be used as the tools and method for this project. The researcher will start with project plan to understand the theory and plan the action steps. Then we will continue with action to gathering the data and collect all the informative knowledge from our case study and at the end we will outline the result and the suggestion of the tool kits for future action.

For this research, we are a group of 5 peoples: Irina Kuzennaya, Ksenia Tikhmonovich, Laila Payo, Phung Banh, and Svetlana Shirokova. We had the knowledge and had participated in many projects. We hope that this project will help us have deeper understanding in leadership and team management. We also aim to be able to outline the tool kits for team work in any project.

Structure of the research

The market research is the process of gathering, analysing and interpreting information about a market, a product or service to offer the strategy on a curtain task. The research is focus into the characteristics, spending habits, location and needs of target group to have a clear understanding of the market or target in general. (Marketresearch 2012.)

The market research will help the researcher provides relevant data to allow us solve the challenge of the market and have knowledge on a task. For example, the market research will point out the market segment or identify the need of the target group where all of this information will help the researcher in terms of develop the market strategy. (Marketresearch 2012.)

The research will follow this project plan. The method that we use to reach the goal is based on research topic and objective. We will outline the result from the questionnaire and we also will create the statistics from it. The plan includes the analysis of possible risks that can appear during the research.

For the theoretical study, the research is divided to three main parts. First is the research plan, this part includes the theory of leadership from the contact hours and the comment and suggestion from the consulting meeting with the teachers. Research plan will be focusing on the theory in order for us to have deeper understanding in leadership skills and team dynamic. Second part is the action and activities, we will follow the methodology of the research plan by contact our target group. However, we have to consider the time as a main challenge. We might not be able to contact all the target students. At this stage, we may have to use other method such as online survey. The last part is the final report that we have to analyse after we receive all the answer from our target group. We will collect all the qualitative and quantitative data to outline the final analysis to our research. We have to be able to answer to our research questions and we have to come up with the tool kits to be the suggestion key in the future for successful leader and team dynamic in Porvoo campus.

The research will help us have a clearer understanding of leadership and management. This project will be based on the learning theory of leadership course. It includes the knowledge of managerial traits and skills, strategic leadership and power and influence, what will be teaching during the contact hour.

The researchers have to apply the knowledge from the course to outline the tool kits as a goal for this project. Since we have had some experiences in project work before, we hope that it will help us able to reach the goal and meet the success in project learning together with the good structure of search plan.
