Study and translate the following terms:

undercarriage – the assembly of wheels, shock absorbers, struts, etc., that supports an aircraft on the ground and enables it to take off and land.

chassis – the steel frame, wheels, engine, and mechanical parts of a motor vehicle, to which the body is attached.

nosewheel – a wheel fitted to the forward end of a vehicle, esp the landing wheel under the nose of an aircraft.

reconnaissance – the process of obtaining information about the position, activities, resources, etc., of an enemy or potential enemy; a preliminary inspection of an area of land before an engineering survey is made.

taildragger – an aeroplane whose undercarriage includes a tailwheel or tail skid rather than a nose wheel.

tail skid – a support for the tail of an aircraft when on the ground.

tyre – a thick piece of rubber which is fitted onto the wheels of vehicles.

strut – a rod or bar forming part of a framework and designed to resist compression.

nacelle – a streamlined enclosure on an aircraft, not part of the fuselage, to accommodate an engine, passengers, crew, etc

bogie – an assembly of four or six wheels forming a pivoted support at either end of a railway coach. It provides flexibility on curves.
