I'm a Student of Chemico-Technological University

From the times I was a pupil I got interested in precise sciences and most of all in chemistry. My teacher of chemistry recommended me the right books to read and supplied me with different equipment to set up my own experiments. Being a pupil of senior grades I participated in different olympiads in chemistry and physics.

After leaving school I firmly decided to increase my knowledge of chemistry and entered the Organic Faculty of Dniepropetrovsk Chemico-Technological University.

Our University was founded in 1930. And now it is the only specialized University of Chemical Technology in Ukraine.

There are 6 faculties at the University: the Faculty of Organic Chemistry, the Faculty of Inorganic Chemistry, the Silicate Faculty, the Faculty of High-Molecular Compounds Technology, the Mechanical Faculty and the Economic Faculty. It trains specialists in more than 20 specialities.

More than 5,500 students study at the University now. The University has 2 departments: day-time and correspondence. Correspondence department enables students to obtain higher education without leaving their jobs. But most of the students are full time students.

University degree course runs 5 years. The teaching combines lectures, practical classes and seminars. The academic year begins in September and ends in July. It is divided into four semesters.

The curriculum for the first- and the second-year students includes such general subjects as chemistry, mathematics, physics, history of Ukraine, a foreign language and a number of others. Specialization as a rule begins in the 3rd year. Besides their regular studies the students are engaged in research work in students' scientific societies and participate in social work of the University. The results of students' work often find practical application. The students have practical training at the largest plants of the country. At the end of each semester they may take their credits and examinations. Beginning from the third year all the students make term projects on different subjects. Students present their diploma papers to the state examination commission. Every year more than 20 students defend their diploma works in foreign languages.

The University provides good conditions for study. The students may use well-equipped laboratories and workshops with modern apparatus and instruments.

Recreation and sport are important items in students' life. There are many sports sections where the students go in for sports.
