Сцена 1
Алисе наскучило сидеть с сестрой без дела на берегу реки; разок-другой она заглянула в книжку, которую читала сестра, но там не было ни картинок, ни разговоров.
Alice (встает, разводит руками) What is the use of a book without pictures or conversation?
Вдруг мимо пробежал кролик.
the Rabbit `Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be late!
Кролик вдруг вынул часы из жилетного кармана и, взглянув на них, помчался дальше. Никогда раньше Алиса не видела кролика с часами, да еще с жилетным карманом в придачу!
В тот же миг Алиса юркнула за ним следом, (убегают друг за другом за занавес)
Сцена 2
Не успела Алиса и глазом моргнуть, как она начала падать, словно в глубокий колодец. (Алиса в центре сцены, руки вверх, изображает, как будто летит вниз, все персонажи по кругу движутся, кружась, в противоположном направлении, как будто Алиса пролетает мимо них)
Алиса `I wonder how many miles I've fallen by this time? I must be getting somewhere near the centre of the earth. I wonder if I shall fall right THROUGH the earth! How funny it'll seem to come out among the people that walk with their heads downward!
(Алиса низко приседает, как будто упала)
Она ничуть не ушиблась и быстро вскочила на ноги. В конце коридора мелькнул Белый Кролик.
the Rabbit (из-за кулис выбегает на край сцены, трогает уши, усы и торопливо убегает) `Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it's getting!'
(Алиса убегает за ним следом).

СЦЕНА 3
(веер и перчатки)
Немного спустя вдалеке послышался топот маленьких ног. Это возвращался Белый Кролик. Одет он был парадно, в одной руке держал пару лайковых перчаток, а в другой – большой веер.
The RABBIT Oh! the Duchess, the Duchess! Oh! Won’t she be angry if I've kept her waiting!'
ALICE (Подходит к Кролику) If you please, sir--'
(Кролик подпрыгнул, уронил перчатки и веер, метнулся прочь и тут же исчез)
(Алиса подняла веер и перчатки. В зале было жарко, и она стала обмахиваться веером.)
ALICE `Dear, dear! How queer everything is today! And yesterday
Things went on as usual. I wonder if I've been changed in the night?
(Алиса обмахивается веером)
СЦЕНА 4
«МОРЕ СЛЕЗ»
Действующие лица:
1. Алиса
2. Мышь
Тут слезы брызнули у нее из глаз. Она продолжала стремительно уменьшаться. Вскоре она поняла, что виной тому веер, который она держала в руках, и тут же швырнула его на пол. И хорошо сделала -- а то могла бы и вовсе исчезнуть!
Тут она поскользнулась и -- бух! -- шлепнулась в воду. Вода была соленая на вкус и доходила ей до подбородка. Сначала она подумала, что каким-то образом упала в море
Вскоре… она поняла, что упала в лужу слез, которую сама же и наплакала. (Ленты голубой ткани на переднем плане имитируют «море слез»)
ALICE: `I wish I hadn't cried so much!' I shall drown in my own tears! Everything is queer today.'
(Тут она услышала какой-то плеск неподалеку. Сначала она решила, что это морж или гиппопотам, но потом вспомнила, какая она теперь крошечная, и, увидела всего лишь мышь).
ALICE: `O Mouse, do you know the way out of this pool? I am very tired of swimming, O Mouse!'
ALICE: `Perhaps it doesn't understand English, it's a French mouse.
ALICE: `Ou’ est ma chatte? (по-французски: Где моя кошка?)
(Мышь затрепетала от ужаса).
ALICE: `Oh, sorry! You don't like cats!
The MOUSE: Not like cats! Would YOU like cats if you were me?
ALICE: Well, perhaps not, don't be angry. I wish I could show you our cat Dinah, … She is such a dear quiet thing …
(Шерстка у Мыши стала дыбом. Алиса поняла, что оскорбила ее до глубины души.)
The MOUSE: What?!
ALICE: Oh, sorry! We won't talk about cats any more.
The MOUSE: Let’s get to the shore, and then I'll tell you my story, and you'll understand why I hate cats and dogs.
ALICE: OK.
(В луже становилось все теснее от всяких птиц и зверей, упавших в нее. Там были Робин Гусь, Птица Додо, Попугайчик Лори, Орленок Эд и всякие другие удивительные существа.)
СЦЕНА 5 (На берегу)
Действующие лица:

2. the Mouse

6. the Duck
на берегу Робин Гусь, Птица Додо, Попугайчик Лори, Орленок Эд
the Lory: I am cold.
the Eaglet: I’m wet.
the Dodo: Me too.
ALICE: I’ll catch cold!
The MOUSE: Sit down, all of you, and listen to me! (They all sat down at once, in a large ring, with the Mouse in the middle.) This is the driest story I know. Silence! "William the Conqueror, was soon submitted to by the English, who wanted leaders. Edwin and Morcar, the earls of Mercia and Northumbria …(птицы зевают, изображают скуку)
the Lory: Ugh! (with a shiver).
the Mouse: I beg your pardon! Did you speak?

the Dodo: (встает, держит палец у лба и ему приходит умная мысль) We need energetic remedies.

the Dodo: The best thing to get us dry would be a Caucus-race.
ALICE: What IS a Caucus-race?
the Duck: Yes, what IS a Caucus-race?
the Dodo: The best way to explain it is to do it. (they began running, suddenly the Dodo stopped.)
the Dodo: Stop! The race is over!(they all crowded round it)
the Eaglet: Why?
the Lory: But who has won?
the Duck: Yes, who has won?
(This question the Dodo could not answer without a great deal of thought, and it stood for a long time with one finger pressed upon its forehead.)
the Dodo: EVERYBODY has won, and all must have prizes.
the Eaglet: But who will give the prizes?
the Duck: Yes, who will give the prizes?
the Dodo: SHE, of course,' (pointing to Alice with one finger)
the Duck / the Eaglet / the Mouse / the Dodo / the Lory: Prizes! Prizes!
(Alice put her hand in her pocket, and pulled out a box of comfits, and handed them round as prizes.)
the Mouse: But she must have a prize herself.
the Dodo: Of course. What else have you got in your pocket?
ALICE: Only a thimble.
the Dodo: Give it. (все толпятся вокруг Алисы, Додо встает на одно колено и торжественно произносит) We beg your acceptance of this elegant thimble.
ALICE: Thank you very much. (все выражают одобрение т радость, хлопают в ладоши и толпой удаляются со сцены)
СЦЕНА 5
Advice from a Caterpillar/ СИНЯЯ ГУСЕНИЦА
(Кальян)
Действующие лица:
1. СИНЯЯ ГУСЕНИЦА
2. ALICE
Синяя гусеница выходит медленно из-за кулис, тащит за собой круг, изображающий шляпу гриба. Садится в центре гриба, курит кальян. Появляется Алиса. С удивлением обнаруживает гусеницу с кальяном. Рассматривает ее.
Алиса и Синяя Гусеница долго смотрели друг на друга, не
говоря ни слова. Наконец, Гусеница вынула кальян изо рта и
медленно, словно в полусне, заговорила:
the Caterpillar: (говорит медленно, растягивая слова) Who are YOU?
ALICE: `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- I know who I WAS when I got up in the morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'
the Caterpillar: What do you mean? `Explain yourself!
ALICE: `I can't explain MYSELF, because I'm not myself.
the Caterpillar: So you think you have changed, haven’t you?'
ALICE: `I'm afraid yes, sir,… I don't keep the same size for ten minutes!
the Caterpillar: `What size do you want to be?'
ALICE: `Well, I would like to be a LITTLE larger, sir, three inches is such a wretched (жалкий) height.
the Caterpillar: (соскакивает, говорит возмущенно) It is a very good height! I am three inches high!
(Алиса удивленно пожимает плечами)
ALICE: I wish they were not so easily offended!'
the Caterpillar: You'll get used to it in time. (Гусеница курит кальян. Алиса видит, что на нее не обращают внимание, удаляется)
СЦЕНА 5
Безумное чаепитие.
Действующие лица:
1. the Hatter
2. the March Hare
3. the Dormouse
4. ALICE
Около дома под деревом стоял накрытый стол на несколько персон, а за столом пили чай Мартовский Заяц и Шляпник, между ними крепко спала Мышь-Соня. Шляпник и Заяц облокотились на нее, словно на подушку, и разговаривали через ее голову. Они увидели Алису, замахали руками.
the March Hare the Hatter No room! No room!'
the Dormouse: Of course, of course; just what I was going to remark myself.'
Alice. `There's PLENTY of room!'
the March Hare `Have some wine,'
Alice. `I don't see any wine,'
the March Hare `There isn't any,'.
Alice `Then it is not polite to offer it,'
the March Hare `It is not polite to sit down without being invited,'
Alice `I didn't know it was YOUR table,' `it is laid for more than three.'
the Dormouse: Of course, of course; just what I was going to remark myself.'
Шляпник прошел по столу к Алисе, с любопытством разглядывал Алису и неожиданно предложил ей подстричься.
the Hatter `Your hair wants cutting.
Alice: You shouldn’t make personal remarks, it's very rude.
Шляпник широко открыл глаза, но не нашелся, что ответить.
the Hatter: What day of the month is it?
Спросил он, вынимая из кармана часы. Он с тревогой поглядел на них, потряс и приложил к уху.
Alice: (подумала немного и сказала) The fourth.
the Hatter: Two days wrong! I told you butter wouldn't suit!
the March Hare: `It was the BEST butter. But you shouldn't put it in with the bread-knife.
Мартовский Заяц взял часы и уныло посмотрел на них, потом окунул их в чашку с чаем и снова посмотрел.
Alice: What a funny watch! It tells the day of the month!
the Hatter: Does YOUR watch tell you what year it is?'
Alice: Of course not.
the Hatter: Once the Queen frightened the TIME and It's always six o'clock now.
Alice: That’s why so many tea-things are on the table!
the Hatter: Yes. It's always tea-time, and we have no time to wash the things.
So we move round the table. The Dormouse is asleep again. (he poured a little hot tea upon its nose. The Dormouse shook its head, and said, without opening its eyes)
the Dormouse: Of course, of course; just what I was going to remark myself.'
the Hatter: (пританцовывая, напевает)
"Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!
Up above the world you fly,
Like a tea-tray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle--
the Dormouse: Twinkle, twinkle, twinkle, twinkle--' (and went on so long that they had to pinch it to make it stop.)
Заяц и Шляпник не обратили на Алисин уход никакого внимания, хоть она и обернулась раза два, надеясь, что они одумаются и позовут ее обратно.
Оглянувшись в последний раз, она увидела, что они засовывают Соню в чайник.
Alice: What a stupid tea-party! I will never go THERE again!
СЦЕНА 6
