My Speciality

I am a second year student of Omsk State Technical University which was founded in 1942.

I entered the electrical-engineering department as I am interested in electrical engineering.

Our department was founded in 1977.

It trains specialists for different branches of our industry and research laboratories.

Our department trains engineers of two specialities: information-measuring technique and electrical supply of industrial enterprises and cities.

A proper understanding of electrical engineering needs good knowledge of mathematics and physics.

So, the department pays particular attention to training mathematics, physics and theoretical foundations of electrical engineering.

Our students get practical skills in well-equipped laboratories.

There are many laboratories at the department. They are: a laboratory of theoretical foundations of electrical engineering, a laboratory of electrical machines, a laboratory of automatic and relay protection, and many others.

The graduates of our department work at designing institutes, big power stations, plants and factories and power systems of Siberia and of all our great country.

Electrical engineering is a field of science dealing with designing and operating of electrical power systems.

An electrical power system consists of three principal components: generating stations, transmission lines and distribution systems.

The sources of energy include generators of thermal power stations, hydro power stations and atomic power stations which form the Unified Power Grid.

At present the transmission of energy over long distances is provided over transmission lines. Transmission lines are connecting links between all generating stations and distribution systems. Distribution of energy is done by means of cables which are laid directly in the city underground, sometimes overhead or in some other way. Thus, electric energy flows from a source of supply to a consumer in an endless stream.
