Englishman’s house is his castle – English proverb

Listen to the dialogues and read them in pairs.

Dialogue 1

Dima Hi, Timur!

Timur Hi, Dima!

Dima Where are you going to?

Timur I am going home to my native village.

Dima Where do you come from?

Timur I come from Durtyuli district. I live in a small village there. We have a big two-story house, a barn, a sauna and a cow-shed.

Dima Oh, is there a yard around your house?

Timur Of course, there is a big yard, a garden and an orchard where

we grow potatoes, carrots, cabbage, onions and many other

vegetables and fruits.

Dima Lucky you are!

Dialogue 2

Natasha Hi, Lilia, how are you?

Lilia Oh, hi, Natasha! I’m OK, how about you?

Natasha I’m fine, thank you! What are you going to do during the

holidays?

Lilia I’ll stay at the hostel, you know I live very far away in

Nizhnevartovsk.

Natasha Come with me to Sibai! My family has a big apartment, and they will be happy to have you as a guest.

Lilia I’d love to, but I’m afraid that it will inconvenience your

family.

Natasha Don’t you worry! We have three bedrooms: one for my parents,

one for me and one for our guests. We also have a living room

where we watch TV, talk about different things and have

festive dinners.

Lilia You have a big apartment! Is the kitchen also big?

Natasha Oh yes, it is about 12 square meters and we also have one big

bathroom with a toilet and one separate toilet. You won’t feel

awkward.

Lilia OK, I will go with you. I am sure we’ll have a good time!
